Welcome to the website for the
Pan Orthodox Christian Council of Greater Omaha, (POCCO).
We are a laity driven organization comprised of representatives from each of the six S.C.O.B.A. Orthodox parishes in the Greater Omaha area. Our express purpose is to assist in the promotion of enhanced spiritual, social, educational and recreational development of our Orthodox brothers and sisters, and to create a sense of “family” within our broad Orthodox community. To this end we encourage, support and sponsor such varied activities as: Educational Retreats and Seminars; Pan Orthodox Book and Bible Studies; Pan Orthodox Vacation Church School; Men’s Retreats and Women’s Retreats; Pan Orthodox Worship Services, especially during the period of Great Lent; joint Pan Orthodox Outreach and Community Support programs to the homeless, seniors, the sick and infirmed, and youth; Pan Orthodox Social Activities such as picnic’s, potlucks, BBQ’s, and much, much more.
With this great variety of Pan Orthodox activities there is truly something for everyone.
However, while the POCCO Council is the organizational aspect of the Pan Orthodox effort in the Greater Omaha area, You are the main driving force. Your involvement and participation in Pan Orthodox activities are the real key to a rich and vibrant Pan Orthodox community and a true feeling of Orthodox “family”. Therefore, if you have any ideas and/or suggestions regarding Pan Orthodox activities or projects you would like to see implemented, or if would like to be a part of the Pan Orthodox effort in the Greater Omaha area, please talk with your parish priest or lay POCCO representative.
You are the essential element to a successful Pan Orthodox effort in Omaha. So please get involved and participate in the scheduled events and activities. I think you will find the results personally rewarding.
